Unconscious Bias
Did you know that we all have a level of implicit bias and sometimes we act on it without even knowing it?  Join us to hear from Gabrielle Camacho, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Tucson Electric Power as she helps us become aware of and understand these biases and understand how to prevent them occurring in our organizations.

Communication, Public Speaking & F.E.A.R.
Effective fund development requires understanding the scope of your agency’s work and knowing how to communicate that message quickly and clearly to people who are interested in supporting your agency.  In this session John-Peter Wilhite will help you gain an understanding of how to craft an impactful message.  Time permitting some participants will get to deliver the message in front of the attendees.

Communicating Your Impact through Social Return on Investment 
As donors and funders become increasingly focused on evaluating their investments based on outcomes, not just inputs and outputs, it is critically important that nonprofits understand how to effectively calculate and communicate the social return on investment (SROI) of their programs. In this interactive and hands-on session, we will take a closer look at what Social Return on Investment (SROI) is, why it is important to communicate, and how to begin formulating your own unique SROI message. 

Dr. Anthony Evans, Staff Director and Senior Research Fellow at L. William Seidman Research Institute, will give a short overview of the findings from the recently released 2018 study Beyond the Bottom Line: The Social and Economic Impact of Arizona Nonprofits, as well as take participants through a brief case study of an example of a local Arizona nonprofit measuring their own SROI.  Participants will then have the opportunity to break out into groups with other nonprofit leaders from similar cause areas to discuss and answer five key questions that can help identify SROI.

Attendees will be able to receive feedback on their findings from their small group sessions, as well as take away a few tools that will help them get started on developing and communicating their own unique SROI.

What Donors Want: 7 Things Donors Want To See When Contributing
With philanthropic giving in the U.S. stuck at 2% GDP since the 1970s, organizations like yours are well aware of the constraints that nonprofits nationwide are experiencing.  Most donors give to large, well known nonprofits, or to those to which they are personally connected.  Few donors seek those charitable issues with the largest need, or those nonprofits with the greatest dollar for dollar impact. Despite multiple campaigns, our sector has so far been unable to notably increase or to shift individual giving. 

This inertia in giving is in large part due to limited insight into donors’ giving behaviors, motivations, and preferences. Hear from Jasmine Morrow, Director of Nonprofit Strategy at GuideStar about how Money for Good fills this gap. Jasmine will help identify three key areas of marketing insights to help nonprofits navigate this complex marketplace and access this untapped potential.
